at cost for a while, just to "spite" AMS. By now, I am sure he has written off his R&D costs and found some economies in manufacturing to be able to price it where it is now. Just like an iPod is much cheaper now than when it was first introduced. That doesn't mean that Mike Smith was ripping people off when he was charging $1200. For example, I am making alot less margin on my parts than my compeititors. Can I squeeze my margins and sell my parts cheaper? Yes, but eventually over time, my business is going to be unsustainable -- I would have to work like hell to scrape together a living and would not have any profit to invest in future R&D. There is a fair price for a product, and I know Mike was charging a fair price.
